Jay has been coming to Estes Park his entire life. In 1947 Jay’s great grandfather built a small Sears & Roebuck cabin in the Estes Valley. It inspired a family tradition of escaping the hot midwest summers for the crisp mornings, afternoon showers, and perfect days of Colorado. As a young man, Jay attended Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, further enhancing his love for the community and Rocky Mountain National Park. Jay commissioned in the United States Army where he served in both the Field Artillery and Signal Corps. During his 12 years of service he was deployed to both theaters of combat for nearly 3 1/2 years. Throughout his career he would be recognized for exceptional service through the awarding of three Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, an Army Commendation Medal with “V” device for Valor in combat, and the Order of Mercury for contributions to the Signal Corps. He recently attended and earned a Masters Degree from Columbia University in NYC, and is a graduate of the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business, earning an MBA.
